Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect from the first session?
During the initial session, we'll begin by getting to know each other, discussing your reasons for seeking therapy, and exploring what you hope to achieve. You'll have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the therapy process, and we'll work together to establish a collaborative and trusting therapeutic relationship. Together, we'll start to outline a personalized treatment plan that aligns with your needs and preferences. While the first session may involve some administrative tasks, our primary focus will be on building rapport and setting the foundation for our work together.
How many sessions will I need?
During the first three sessions, we'll focus on assessing your needs and setting goals. Once we have a clear treatment plan, we can dive in. While the number of sessions needed varies from person to person, I typically recommend committing to at least six sessions. Throughout our work, I'll check in with you to ensure you're getting what you need from our time together.
Can you provide a superbill?
Yes, if you have a PPO, I can provide you with a "super bill" that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Reimbursement is not always guaranteed, so I encourage you to contact your insurance provider and inquire prior to our meeting.
Do you offer a free phone consultation?
I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to better understand your therapy needs and goals. This is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have. If we find that we're a good match, we can proceed with scheduling appointment. Contact me to schedule your consultation today.
How is the parking at your office?
My office is located in a historic neighborhood a few blocks away from Balboa Park. There are 2 free 'client only' parking spots directly in front of my office building. Additionally there is free street parking in the neighborhood and metered parking one block away.
Should I try tele-health or in-person sessions?
I provide both tele-health video appointments and in-person appointments. Research has demonstrated that tele-health appointments are just as effective as in-person appointments. While some clients appreciate the convenience of tele-health, others value the comfort of being in a therapeutic space. All tele-health appointments are conducted on a secure and confidential web platform. Contact me today to discuss which format is best for your needs.
